A schoolboy has captured a stunning photograph of a dolphin frolicking in calm waters off Cork as whale watchers report a surge in marine wildlife activity over the balmy bank holiday weekend.

I was outraged as I read an article entitled “Sprat —worthless dead but priceless alive” by Cork Whale Watch skipper Colin Barnes in The West Cork People, my excellent local community newspaper.

If you want to see someof the largest whales onearth, the entire south coast of Ireland is now seen as one of the best places on the planet to whale watch.
