In the early ’60s the Verolme Ship Building Co built a shipyard in Rushbrooke in Cork harbour and facilitated the training of hundreds of Irish men in the ship building yards of Holland.

Over 1,000 jobs have now been lost in Ireland in the past week following the announcement that 400 jobs will be lost at the Irish ISPAT plant in Cork
