The Port of Cork’s plans for a €100m redevelopment of its cargo-handling facilities at Ringaskiddy have been hit with a further delay.

The Port of Cork has admitted it was involved in a serious incident last year, when dust from cargo being unloaded in Ringaskiddy clogged the air filters of a major pharmaceutical plant.

IT was at the kitchen tables of family homes in Monkstown, Cobh and Ringaskiddy that the 10-year campaign to stop two incinerators being built in Cork Harbour was spearheaded.

INCREASED bin charges, more taxation or increased state borrowing will have to be considered next year if we have to fork out up to €500,000 a day in EU fines for over reliance on landfills, the managing director of Indaver Ireland said.
