CHILDREN’S ombudsman Emily Logan has backed calls in a new report for an end to the locking up of children in prisons.

A UN panel says children in Britain are too often portrayed as criminals in the media and treated like adults by law enforcement agencies.

The Government is due to make an address to a UN committee in Geneva today about its moves to improve children's rights.
