Tony Blair has voiced “more sorrow, regret, and apology than you may ever know or can believe” for his role in the invasion of Iraq.

Tony Blair has apologised for aspects of the Iraq War, sparking claims of attempted “spin” ahead of the Chilcot Inquiry findings.

The UN’s authority would have been “severely dented” if Britain and the US had not followed through threats to Saddam Hussein with military action, UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband said today.

The Chilcot Inquiry will look into Britain’s stewardship of Basra and southern Iraq following the 2003 invasion today, as it takes evidence from two defence secretaries who held office after the toppling of Saddam Hussein.
