A COUNSELLING centre in Cork has confirmed that a priest, against whom seven allegations of sexual abuse have been lodged, worked as a volunteer with them in the early 1990s.

FORMER pupils of a Co Cork boarding school during the tenure of Fr Donncha Mac Cárthaigh and Fr Tadhg Daly have described the school as “an educational gulag” and “a school that was run like a concentration camp”.

THE first complaint of sexual abuse against the former principal of Carrignavar College and Cork GAA selector, Fr Donncha Mac Cárthaigh, was investigated by his brother, who was then the head of his order in Ireland.

A CORK-BASED priest was training under-age county teams and was a selector of the minor county football team, even though sex abuse allegations had been made against him years earlier.
