A curious monkey with a toothy grin and a knack for pressing a camera button was back in the spotlight as a US appeals court heard arguments on whether an animal can hold a copyright to selfies.

USA:  A macaque monkey who took now-famous selfie photographs cannot be declared the copyright owner of the photos, a federal judge said.

A federal judge has ruled that Naruto, the monkey that swiped photographer David Slater’s camera and snapped a selfie, cannot own the intellectual property rights to the photos.
