Russia’s central bank may pick up where it left off earlier this year to avert another run on the ruble.

The rouble slid to a five-week low as the Russian central bank suspended some foreign-exchange auctions, stepping up measures to counter this year’s biggest currency rally.

Russian policymakers are signalling that they are prepared to sacrifice economic growth in order to stabilise the ruble.
