An historic landmark Cork city church will host an open day and garden party next weekend to showcase progress on a major restoration project.

A €500,000 fundraising drive is under way to save and restore a landmark church and priory in the heart of Cork City.

“I’ll be the last man standing,” declared retired Irish army sergeant Michael Kelly ahead of today’s 75th anniversary commemoration of the handover of the Treaty Ports from the British.
