FROM a dusty embassy compound in Afghanistan to London’s cathedrals and mosques, millions around the world gathered yesterday to remember those who died in the September 11 attacks and to offer prayers for peace and tolerance.

The world was almost united today as people around the globe reflected on last year’s terror attacks against the United States.

An Iraqi newspaper has marked the September 11 anniversary by publishing pictures of the attack with the headline "God's punishment".
