British economic growth got back on track in the second quarter but the strength of the pound hurt manufacturers, putting the Bank of England in a tricky spot as it gets closer to raising interest rates.

Britain’s trade deficit with the rest of the world narrowed more than expected in April, suggesting that it might act as less of a brake on the country’s growth during the current quarter, official data showed yesterday.
