The 2010 US Open winner admits the barren run – his last victory anywhere was at the French Open 16 months ago – left him questioning his ability after dropping out of the world’s top 50.

The Antrim golfer was involved in a three way sudden death playoff with American Jason Bohn and Scotland’s Russell Knox.

McDowell and Knox shared the lead at 19 under par, two shots clear of the chasing pack.

McDowell made seven birdies in the space of eight holes.
