Counsel for Maurice McCabe has argued that it’s not permissible for former Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan to disown the actions of her legal counsel at the O’Higgins Commission.

The Tánaiste and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has said she expects the Garda Commissioner to clarify the instructions that were given to her legal team.

A report commissioned by the previous Government has found no evidence of garda corruption in the Cavan-Monaghan division in 2007 and 2008.
