A retired policewoman who worked with Scotland Yard has told of her meetings with Mary Lowry which led to vital evidence about the murder of Bobby Ryan.

Mary Lowry was a central figure in the murder trial of Patrick Quirke, but in the course of proceedings her evidence seemed to take a strange turn, writes Eoin Reynolds.

Mary Lowry's son has described murder accused Pat Quirke as "in control most of the time, grumpy some of the time" and said he went around his mother's farm "as if he kind of owned the place".
