The Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces will give the keynote address at the unveiling of a monument to commemorate the Irishman acknowledged as the first person in the world to officially record spotting Antarctica.

The Taoiseach has wished our defence forces serving overseas a very happy Christmas while visiting members of the Irish Battalion in Lebanon today.

Plans for this year’s Daffodil Day have been waterproofed, with many indoor activities organised in addition to the usual outdoor collections.
