The Danish zoo which hit headlines last month for euthanising one of its giraffes has put down a further four animals - the lions it fed the giraffe to.

Just days after a Copenhagen zoo sparked global outrage by putting down a healthy giraffe named Marius, another Danish zoo says it may do the same thing to a giraffe with the same name.

Copenhagen Zoo is defending its decision to carry out an autopsy on a giraffe in front of a group of children and their parents.

Copenhagen Zoo turned down offers from other zoos and €500,000 from a private individual to save the life of a healthy giraffe before killing and slaughtering it in front of children to follow inbreeding recommendations made by a European association.
