Apple has confirmed it is to replace the iTunes service in its current form, as it splits the software across three apps.

Apple services which were experiencing problems and crashed on some users have now returned to normal, according to the technology giant.

Apple was told to pay $532.9m (€469m) after a federal jury in the US said its iTunes software used a company’s patented inventions without permission.
