A €20m stimulus package from the Government is now needed to make tourism Brexit-proof, a body representing the industry has said.

The Government now has to “step up to the plate” to rescue tourism from the impact of Brexit in the wake of the UK election because it is “much too important to the regional economy to be taken for granted”, according to a national industry body.

An industry lobby group has called for national tourism targets to be revised upward and for the next government to be more ambitious in its outlook for the sector.
