Drugs minister Catherine Byrne is pressing ahead with legislation to set up injecting facilities, despite concerns raised at an Oireachtas health committee yesterday.

Countries such as Ireland that plan to introduce drug consumption rooms are obliged to ensure they comply with international drug laws, the world’s narcotics watchdog has warned.
