Independent Newspapers has asked the Court of Appeal to overturn fines totalling €100,000 imposed after a judge ruled that certain articles and commentary published in 2014 were a contempt of court.

Independent Newspapers has lost by a two to one majority its appeal against a ruling that articles and commentary published by it in 2014 about certain events - which cannot be referred to by court order - were a contempt of court.
