Egyptian state TV has said the country’s former president Hosni Mubarak, who was ousted in the 2011 Arab Spring uprising, has died at the age of 91.

Egypt’s highest appeals court has ordered the retrial of Hosni Mubarak on charges that he failed to stop the killing of hundreds of protesters during the uprising that ended his 29-year rule.

A court has sentenced Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak to three years in prison and a fine on corruption charges.

Egypt’s deposed president Hosni Mubarak denied he ordered protesters killed in the 2011 uprising that deposed him, his first lengthy statement to a court as his retrial draws to an end.
