Geraint Thomas has won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Geraint Thomas ticked off the final mountain test on the Tour de France and snatched six bonus seconds to extend his lead in yellow as Sky team-mate Chris Froome slipped off the podium two days from Paris.

Geraint Thomas rode his way into the yellow jersey with a memorable victory on stage 11 to La Rosiere as Mark Cavendish became the latest casualty of this year’s Tour de France.
