Limerick's newest secondary school is to have gender-neutral toilets fitted on each of its three floors.

A court in the Netherlands has said lawmakers should recognise a neutral, third gender, in a groundbreaking ruling for a person who does not identify as male or female.

"Going to the female one is not good for me emotionally, it makes me feel bad and wrong. But going to the male bathrooms, there's a constant fear or confrontation."

UCD is designating 170 toilets across its campus as gender neutral.
