Farms remain Ireland’s most dangerous workplaces with 24 deaths last year — almost double that of any other sector.

A farm health and safety specialist has urged people to be cautious when working with or near farm tractors, vehicles or machinery in order to reduce the risk of farm deaths and injury.

The Health and Safety Authority and gardaí are investigating a farming accident in which a 14-year-old boy died in Carlow yesterday morning.
