Irish lightweight Ciara Ginty lost out in her bid for gold in yesterday’s 60kg Youth Olympic final in Nanjing, China.

Joanna Mills has questioned Athletics Ireland's plans for the sport in Ireland after it was confirmed that she had lost her place in the Irish Women's 4 x 400m relay team for the Olympics.

THERE was a larger than usual attendance for the early morning start of the AVIVA Irish Schools Track and Field Championships at Tullamore on Saturday when star racewalker, Kate Veale (St. Augustine’s, Dungarvan), made her first appearance on home soil since winning the bronze medal in the junior walk at the European Cup in the Algarve.

SWIMMING’S Long Course Championships came to a close yesterday on a high note, with 13 swimmers achieving international qualifying times, four new Irish senior records and two new Irish junior records to round off a very successful weekend.
