An amateur sailor has been rescued from the Pacific Ocean an hour and a half after falling overboard during one of the world’s longest yacht races.

Derry will host a round the world yacht race, it was announced today.

THEY lost their first yacht after striking a reef in the Java Sea, they capsized 3,200 kilometres off the American coast, and they have sailed through the teeth of wild Pacific storms.

THEY may have travelled around the world despite being amateurs but the crew of the Cork Clipper can’t really do “downtime”.

ENGINEERS have installed massive piles into the bed of the river Lee to support a €250,000 pontoon which will allow leisure craft berth in the city centre.
