A huge mudslide first thought to have buried hundreds of people has left only 11 missing with no confirmed dead, authorities said today.

A HILLSIDE collapsed on hundreds of sleeping residents yesterday in a rural Mexican community drenched for days by a hurricane and a tropical storm, killing at least seven and leaving at least 100 missing, disaster officials said.

Tropical Storm Matthew weakened to a tropical depression over the weekend along the coast of Belize, dousing the southern part of the Central American nation and neighbouring Guatemala with rain that caused flooding in coastal areas.
