Well known GAA stars have joined forces with Special Olympics Ireland to get ‘freezin’ for a reason’ this December and take the Polar Plunge for charity.

THE Special Olympics launched a national fundraising drive yesterday to raise €5 million to encourage more athletes to get involved ahead of the world games.

THE Special Olympics in Ireland last summer has had no lasting impact in terms of making disability a key political issue in Ireland, according to the latest Irish Examiner/Prime Time opinion poll, conducted by Lansdowne Market Research.

Athletes from parts of China and Canada not affected by SARS will be allowed to take part in the Special Olympics later this month.
