American Solheim Cup captain Rosie Jones has sprung a surprise by naming Ryann O’Toole as one of her wild cards for the match against Europe at Killeen Castle in Ireland from September 23 to 25.

Laura Davies today added a touch of spice to her record 10th appearance in the Solheim Cup – by saying that one of the Americans is “not particularly nice”.

Great Britain and Ireland are relishing the challenge of facing the United States, and especially their 13-year-old Michelle Wie, in the Curtis Cup at Formby in June.

ENGLAND’S Laura Davies and Scot Mhairi McKay will be the only British players in Europe’s Solheim Cup team to face the United States at Interlachen in Minnesota from September 20-22 after they were named as wildcards today by captain Dale Reid.
