The woman at the centre of the controversial Miss D case in 2007 has revealed that she was told by social workers at the time that getting an abortion was murder and that she was advised to stay in a mental hospital.

Reaction to the Supreme Court ruling on the rights of the unborn was swift and divided. Pro-choice advocates welcomed it, while anti-abortion campaigners said it was rushed and that it exposed Government “hostility” to the unborn child.

The president of the UCD Student Union has urged students to vote no to her impeachment.
