Second place for Connor McCloskey in today's Townparks Glens of Antrim Rally was enough to win the Pacenotes Northern Ireland Rally Championship.

MOTORSPORT Ireland have stepped up their involvement in Rally Ireland and will actually promote the 2009 event that will kick start the World Rally Championship in late January. However, funding for the event has yet to be put in place.

Former National Rally Champion, Peadar Hurson, driving a Subaru WRC, took a start to finish victory on the Tour of Sperrins Rally in Maghera today.

IRISH driver, Shaun Gallagher picked up the final championship point on his debut in the Junior World Rally Championship that begun in Rally Norway at the weekend.
