Mark English and Ciara Mageean will spearhead the home interest at tonight’s Morton Games and, with a little over five weeks until the World Championships, it’s a key chance for them against international rivals.

Brian Gregan stole Ciara Mageean’s thunder as he set a new personal best at the Morton games as Mageean missed the two-minute mark.

The stage is set for a top class evening of athletics at the Morton Games in Morton Stadium, Santry this evening headlined by the second fastest man in history, Yohan Blake, and World Universities 400m hurdles champion Thomas Barr.

A blanket finish to last night’s Morton Mile in Santry saw 10 runners break four minutes as American runner Will Leer led the field home in 3:56.39 from David Torrence, (USA) in 3:56.40 and Ryan Gregson, (Australia) in 3:56.45. Ireland’s Ciarán Ó Lionaird, (Leevale A.C), finished sixth in 3:56.02.

Morton Stadium in Santry, Co. Dublin, will host a pre-Olympic Games International track and Field Meet on Wednesday 25 July.
