Millstreet in Co Cork will resound to the hoof-beats of more than 1,200 equines this week, as the Cork town stages its annual international horse show.

Millstreet International Horse Show begins today and it is big: 1,200 horses and ponies stabled on site, topped up by some 400 daily arrivals, accounting for more than 7,000 entries in the 93 contests at the Cork fixture.

Millstreet Horse Show returns to the international stage next week after a 12-year hiatus, with its popularity as strong as ever.
