Home favourite Karrie Webb retained the MFS Women’s Australian Open in Melbourne after a dramatic sudden-death play-off.

Australian amateur Kristie Smith upstaged the professionals by taking a one-stroke lead at the halfway stage of the MFS Women’s Australian Open at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne.

Australia’s Karrie Webb won her sixth ANZ Ladies Masters and her second title in as many weeks with a final-round 68 at Royal Pines Resort on the Australian Gold Coast.
