The 12th IAAF World Athletics Championships got off to a disappointing start for Ireland this morning as Wicklow's Roisin McGettigan failed to qualify from the 3000 metres Steeplechase heats.

JAMES NOLAN and Roisín McGettigan got their Olympic years off to flying starts at the weekend’s Reebok Boston Indoor Games with encouraging runs in their respective mile races.

Ireland made a good start to the 2007 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Osaka in the early hours of this morning as Wicklow duo Roisin McGettigan and Fionnuala Britton both progressed to the final of the 3,000 metres Steeplechase.
