A collision yesterday on the main Dublin-Cork route was the third fatal incident in the last three years to involve an elderly motorist driving the wrong way on motorways in Cork.

The young woman who died when the car she was in was hit by a truck on the M8 motorway yesterday had just taken a call giving her good news about her newborn baby.
