Relatives of victims of the Lockerbie bombing have described their continued distress that the man convicted of the atrocity remains in Libya almost two years to the day since he was freed on compassionate grounds.

A review of US government records found no information about BP attempting to influence the release of the Lockerbie bomber, a committee hearing in America was told.

BP CONFIRMED yesterday it had lobbied the British government in late 2007 over a Prisoner Transfer Agreement with Libya because it was concerned a slow resolution would impact an offshore drilling deal with Libya.
