Runaway November Handicap winner Open Eagle is set to embark upon a career over hurdles this winter after joining Willie Mullins.

On a day when the John Berry-trained Cootamundra proved a shock winner of the Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase, enthusiasts in Navan witnessed impressive victories by exciting novices and potential stars Apache Stronghold, Moyle Park and Ballycasey.

Tofino Bay was the pick of a terrific 25-1 Navan treble for Irish champion jockey Davy Russell and owners Gigginstown House Stud.

Sunday’s meeting at Navan must pass a 3pm inspection on Saturday.
