International Sherry Week is just gone for another year and given how much wonderfully complex sherry I consumed, I’m going to try to convince you once again to explore this great drink as a food wine.

I have a nostalgic theme this week as I was reminded at recent tastings by how much our tastes have changed since I first became interested in wine.

That hidden jewel of East Cork, Ballycotton, will be hopping this weekend as the Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton Festival (May 31-June 1) brings together fine local chefs, splendid seafood straight from the pier and excellent family entertainment.

THERE were many wine, whiskey, beer and cider highlights at the Ballymaloe Literary Festival this year so make sure to put the third weekend of May in your diary for 2015.
