Former taoiseach Brian Cowen has warned Britain that it risks crashing out of the Brexit talks — damaging Ireland in the process — unless it finds a solution to its Irish border stance which he said simply “defies logic”.

Central Bank governor Patrick Honohan says he hopes Ireland’s bank debt deal — hammered out in Brussels in the early hours of yesterday morning — could lead to a long-term solution over the outstanding debt linked with failed lender, Anglo Irish Bank.

IRELAND needs to find innovative ways of reducing and offsetting agricultural emissions in order to comply with European Union targets and to avoid damaging the viability of agriculture in the years to come, a conference will be told in Dublin today.
