Homelessness protesters have defended a rush-hour banner protest over the Jack Lynch tunnel in Cork yesterday, insisting it never posed a danger to traffic.

The IndieCork Film Festival has launched an initiative named in honour of a pioneering young filmmaker who died suddenly, aged just 29.

WHEN I was asked to contribute an article on the pros and cons of indie filmmaking I was surprised to see how long my list of cons was.

LAUNCHED earlier this week, the inaugural IndieCork Film Festival (Oct 16-20) is very much a showcase for independent films. It includes seven Irish premieres, consisting of three feature films, two documentaries, one experimental film and an anthology of Cork-themed films entitled ‘Cork, Like’. There are two ‘Creative Cork’ programmes, featuring 20 short films from established and first-time local filmmakers.
