If the proposed Grand Prix of America in New Jersey ever actually takes place, drivers will battle for position in front of the world famous Manhattan skyline which potential new Formula One owner Stephen Ross has made a career out of redrawing.

The Grand Prix of America has been put on hold for one year, with the race to now make its debut in 2014.

The Formula One teams have finally been handed a provisional calendar for 2013, but with a number of uncertainties.

Bosses at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin claim they have paid Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone the money owed to stage the United States Grand Prix next year, and have resumed work at the new purpose-built facility.

Construction work has been halted at the proposed venue of next year’s United States Grand Prix amid claims by the circuit’s owners that they have not yet been granted a contract to stage the race.
