The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has apologised after an error suggested he had not disclosed a meeting with the former Justice Minister days before the Garda Commissioner resigned and just before the Garda Tapes scandal emerged.

A spokesman for Enda Kenny has denied claims that the Taoiseach met with Alan Shatter hours before the Garda Tapes scandal first emerged.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter faced calls to resign amid attacks on his position and claims that the public were appalled at the way the Garda Commissioner was shafted to save his skin.
