A Garda and former senior Kilkenny hurler who lost partial vision after he was run down by a getaway car in a robbery at a Glanbia plant was yesterday awarded almost €280,000 damages in the High Court.

A retired garda, who feared for his life when he was assaulted and dragged towards a river by an “enormous semi-naked” man, was yesterday awarded €80,000 compensation in the High Court.
