Kinsale RNLI were called out this morning to assist a yacht returning from the Fastnet Race held over the weekend.

In the end, as with so many sailing regattas it was the weather that proved the final arbiter for Volvo Cork Week 2016. Thick mist outside Cork Harbour denied most of the racing classes their final day yesterday.

An appropriately breezy day marked the official launch of the Beaufort Cup and Volvo Cork Week yesterday on board the LE Róisín off Cobh and close to the racecourse area for July’s biennial spectacle.

Lack of wind continued to play havoc with the ASM Marine Frostbite Series at Kinsale, with no racing possible again last weekend and so far two of the three scheduled days have been lost.
