One of Detective Jerry McCabe’s killers will have to spend an extra two years in prison for a vicious two-and-a-half hour attack on his wife.

A man who killed his partner’s ex-husband, who died from a knife wound to a varicose vein after a row on Christmas Eve, was jailed today.

A pensioner who had his life savings hidden in the attic of his home had €7,000 stolen from the stash by a plasterer who was doing plumbing jobs for him.
