A childhood friend of the man accused of shooting dead nine people inside a black church in South Carolina said he told him a few weeks ago he had “a plan”.

A white man suspected of killing nine people in a Bible study group at a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, was arrested yesterday. Officials are investigating the attack as a hate crime.
