Three hundred and thirty-nine people have been killed, and 329 injured, in a stampede during the celebration of a water festival in Cambodia, the country’s prime minister has said.

Cambodian troops said a 10-minute gunfight broke out with Thai soldiers at their tense border near the 11th-century Preah Vihear temple, the site of increasingly regular conflicts between the neighbours.
