A Derry newspaper has reported that the family of victims of the Buncrana Pier tragedy have received a claim against the deceased’s estate from a woman who helped at the scene.

Louise James, the woman who lost her partner and four members of her family in the Buncrana pier tragedy in March 2016, has launched a legal action seeking damages from Donegal County Council. 

A pre-inquest hearing into the Buncrana Pier tragedy, in which five members of the same family drowned, has heard that first responders could not open the doors of the car which had entered the water.
