SEAMUS SMITH, General Secretary of the Golfing Union of Ireland, has welcomed confirmation that members of the country’s clubs will have the chance to play in this year’s 3 Irish Open pro-am at Killarney (Wednesday, July 28).

Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk reached 12 under par to share the lead after two rounds of the US $5.5m (€4.2m) AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California.

Luke Donald, who came from six shots back to win the Target World Challenge in December, found himself needing the same last-day fireworks after a disappointing third-round 71 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am.
